Gallery 302 in Bridgton is pleased to have Mary Brooking as Guest Artist for the month of October. Mary is an artist from Westbrook, ME, whose evocative acrylic paintings are inspired by the Maine landscape. Ms. Brooking, who has lived in Maine since 1997, majored in fine art at Hiram College and began painting again 12 years ago, after working as a graphic designer for 20 years.

Mary says, “The forms and colors of the land, water, vegetation and clouds here still take my breath away, just as they did when I only vacationed here. Most of my painted images are interpreted landscapes, definable as such to greater and lesser degrees. My visual process is one of reduction rather than embellishment. I use the least amount of detail necessary to express what I feel are essential truths, both about actual places and the interactions of color, texture and form within them. Using these basic elements, I constantly test the balance between representation and abstraction; forming visual spaces that the viewer may enter both mentally and intuitively.”

Ms. Brooking’s paintings will be on exhibit at Gallery 302 October 2 - 29. The public is invited to a wine and cheese reception Friday, Oct. 15 from 5-7pm. Gallery 302 is located at 112 Main Street in Bridgton and gallery hours are 12-5 Mon.-Fri. and 10-5 Sat. & Sun. For more information, visit www.gallery302.org, or call 647-2787.

Holidy Festival at Coastal Community Church Scarborough Maine

The Coastal Community Church is having their Holidy Festival/ Craft Fair on December 4th 2010. It will be held at the Coastal Community Church, 260 Route 1, Scarborough, Maine across from the Town Hall from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish is holding their 3rd Annual Harvest/Craft Fair on October 16th, 2010. It will be held at the Saint Dominic Academy Gym 121 Graclawn Road, Auburn Maine frpm 9:00am to 3:00pm. Tables are available to Crafters and Artisans. Tables are $35.00 each or 2 for $50.00. 7th Annual Craft Fair at Narragansett School Gorham Maine

The Gorham Varsity Softball Team will be hosting their Annual Craft Fair at the Narragansett School on Main Street in Gorham Maine. The date of the fair is November 20th, 2010 from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Setup is Saturday morning from 7:00AM to 9:00AM.

Space is $40.00. If you need electricity at your space, that will be $45.00.

I have done this fair a couple of years ago and it was a very good fair for me.

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #62 is having their Christmas Craft Fair on November 20th from 9am to 3pm. It will take place at the American Legion Post #62 on Dunn Street Westbrook Maine.
